Coinkydink: The Indie Publisher Redefining British Storytelling
In an industry dominated by legacy players, Coinkydink is carving out a bold new space. Launched in the UK in 2023, this independent publishing house is bringing fresh energy to the literary world—rooted in creativity, innovation, and a bit of serendipity.
The name itself? A happy accident. Sometimes, the brilliance of a 12-year-old mispronouncing a word is more powerful than the grandest advertising campaign. It’s a nod to the often-overlooked genius of the dyslexic mind.
Coinkydink’s pedigree comes from Pretzel and Peggy and Pretzel Films—a creative agency and production house founded in 2004, renowned for sustainable storytelling, strategic branding, and high-profile campaigns. Now, founders Pj Bickford and Jamie Davis are bringing that same visionary approach to publishing, committed to sourcing the very best of British talent, from editors to jacket designers.
“During lockdown, the time felt right to build something new,” says Bickford. “After two decades of working with global brands and producing award-winning campaigns, launching a publishing house felt like a natural progression. My dad—who, after years of keeping quiet, finally decided to put pen to paper—became our first author. And my business partner, Jamie, was all in. Now, we just hope people love the books as much as we do.”
Davis shares the excitement: “Launching a business is an adventure into the unknown—driven by passion, determination, and belief in what’s possible. We’re embracing the journey, and we invite everyone to join us.”
With its thriller lineup already making waves, Coinkydink is proving that sometimes, the best stories come from a little coincidence—and a lot of heart.
